The explicit content of this talk is controversial enough. It is clear that Ireland has fallen way down Obama's respect list, to the point that we are to be used to project every single liberal epithet on and denied an ambassador. The appointment of a woman as OUR ambassador was grudgingly pointed to by Obama as a sign of progress; in fact, Ireland had the first female cabinet minister in the West, and its republic had full suffrage for women way before the USA or France.
However, the inside story may be that diplomatic security services(AWOL in Benghazi) had begun to use the Dublin embassy to do massive ID theft. We do know that they were insisting on interviewing female
minors without their parents present. In fact, it may be the case that only the appointment of Irishman John Brennan as CIA chief stopped something really egregious.
Forgive me for riffing a little; it is possible that at least some of the several thousands of Irish refused visas from 2009-2013 had "phantoms" of their ID's created. We do know, for example, that an
Irish -taxpayer funded body was reporting young Irish students to the state dept, having accumulated a massive trove on their daily life;

So what, beyond disgracing us, is Eamon Gilmore doing? We know through wikileaks that he repeatedly briefed the US embassy in Dublin about the internal workings of the Labour party.........and then
accused people in the Dail of "economic treason"
Now we come to the recent incident involving the theft of Irish passports while in the care of the US embassy in Dublin;

I contend that whoever was benefiting from the attempted theft of our passports under Dan Rooney tipped the thieves off. possibly to fulfil a contract after the system under Bradley Wilde no longer functioned. This system exploited the fact that the US consulate allows a "review" process in which you hand in your passport and they can decide, overrruling decisions made by homeland security in the USA, that you are ineligible for a visa. In fact, Wilde was publicly admonished by HSA for doing this..............
The most likely reasons for the delay in appointing an ambassador are (1) They needed the scam to continue and (2) is that they are frantically searching among the rubble to check which are the fake ID's, and perhaps recalling Mossad agents (who used Irish passports in the Dubai 2010 murder, after which the Israeli embassy in Dublin repeatedly tried to procure more).
Finally, the Irish need to get behind whichever US party will cut us some slack. We need also to stop these disgraceful tax scams like the "double Irish". It is clear that the "Aw shcuks! Aren't we lovely little leprechauns?" tactic is not working. I suggest that the Irish in Ca at the next election target Diane Feinstein, the most Hibernophobe Senator in congress as she attacks yet another Irish man , John Brennan, perhaps beleieving this is Dan white II
There are 34.1 million Irish-Americans; that excludes people like myself who does not have a Green card. We, not the Hispanics, are the sleeping giant of US politics. It is time we woke up and pursued our interests ruthlessly.

PPPS And now, another oblique stand-down; the US embassy in Dublin no longer requires one attends there to get a visa renewal. The lesson; you'll never beat the Irish............
Finally, the connection between the NSA and the US embassy in Dublin is interesting. Why would America risk so much with Ireland, ancestral home of over 15% of the US citizenry? Why would Rooney, clearly of Irish ancestry, collude with this?
First of all, Greenwald, 2014 (Pp 124-125) expounds the links between the NSA and Israel that are so close that, in their mainly unrequited love, the NSA hands raw data from their surveillance of American citizens to Israel. Now Rooney, owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, a Republican with no diplomatic experience, is from the same town as Michael Patrick Hayden, ex-director of the NSA; in fact, he coached Hayden at football. It looks as though Obama's disastrous appointment of Rooney was done at the NSA's behest; the rest is now, finally, history

Kilkee, where I'm from. has a population of 800 or so; I lived most of
my adult life in Dublin; and I indeed worked in a bar. There is one
person in the world that fits. Saying "Dublin or Kilkee" is
considerably more an outlier than even "DC or Antioch, CA"
